A faith-based self-help book by Daniel De La Cruz

Memoirs of a Happy Psycho

A Cheat Code on How to Be Happy

Prison, panic disorder, a heart attack at 25, losing the ability to walk. Daniel survived all of it and came out the other side laughing. This is the playbook he wishes someone had handed him: how to beat anxiety, get closer to God, go after what you pray for, and be happy again.

The Book

Better at being better

How many times have you been asked how you were doing and answered “better”? Maybe you were doing a little better than last time, but not by much. This book is for you.

It’s also for anyone tired of not living their best life, and for anyone who has wished for an older, wiser person to turn to. Someone who could say, “I’ve been there. This is where that road leads. Let me show you how I got past it.”

Across 75 short chapters, Daniel shares what he learned the hard way: beating anxiety and self-doubt, building confidence, finding financial stability, saving a relationship worth saving, and finding peace. He credits all of it to his faith. Not religion. His relationship with God.

“We are spirits with bodies, not bodies with spirits.”From Chapter 37 · Being Tired

Read this book if

  • You know your life can be better, but you just don’t know where to start.
  • You never thought you could be successful. In here, you’ll find out you can be.
  • You’ve struggled with social anxiety, or any kind of anxiety.
  • You just miss being happy.
  • You wish you could feel God’s presence in your life, but you don’t know if you’re worthy to run to Him. You absolutely are—not because of what you did, but because of what He did for you. This book helps explain that, too.

About the Author

Daniel

The BronxPuerto RicanArizonaFatherPipefitter

Daniel De La Cruz was born in the 1980s and grew up between the Bronx, Brooklyn and Maryland in a Puerto Rican family, with a grandfather who taught him that a man’s word is what makes a man.

He has survived more than most: years in the prison system, chronic anxiety and panic disorder, a heart attack at 25, an injury that took away his ability to walk for a while, and the deaths of people he loved. Each time, he says, his faith brought him back.

Today he lives in Arizona, works as a union pipefitter, and is a proud dad. He wrote this book because he wanted to share everything he’d learned with as many people as possible, so they could get to happy faster than he did.

His second book, 90 Days to a Better Life: What School Never Taught Us, covers the practical lessons he wishes someone had taught him sooner: building credit, saving, doing your taxes right, and starting something of your own.

“I say a prayer, then go out and get what I prayed for.”
